How to participate
By taking part in Sol-La-S’Day, you become a “sol-la-singer”. The people you visit are your hosts. The project is very simple to carry out.

Form a group
2 to 10 people.
Find a place
A seniors’ residence or another place.
Register
With the online form.
Create the songbook
And make a few copies.
1. Form a group
The project is a great opportunity to get together with friends, work colleagues, family members, neighbours from the same town, relatives of residents, volunteers, etc.
The project is about sharing songs with our elders, so there is no need to be a singer. No rehearsal is needed: we simply create a spontaneous choir with them. One song, one page turned, holding a hand, sharing a smile, a look… and the magic happens!
Invite people to join you with the small printable invitation cards (PDF).
2. Contact a seniors’ residence or another place
You will need to find a place for your Sol-La-S’Day. When you call, ask for the person in charge of recreation or activities. Explain the project and plan about 1½ to 2 hours in total for the activity.
The visit should ideally take place on the first Saturday of February. Requests like this are almost always accepted.
An invitation poster for the residents (PDF), also available as an editable Word version, can be given to the person in charge.
3. Register
Once your group is formed and the place to sing is found, fill in the registration form.
4. Create your songbook and make a few copies
Create your own songbook with the online tool. Choose your songs (15 to 20) from more than 150 and put them in the order you want. In a few clicks, you will have your songbook as a PDF, with a cover page and an index. (The songs are in French.)
Make copies for your group and a few extra for your hosts. Most of the time, the activities department is happy to make copies for the residents.
5. On site
Make this day your own. You can bring musical instruments, costumes, decorations, small gifts and more. The layout of the room matters too, so give it some thought. If you like, visit beforehand to find out the residents’ favourite songs.
We suggest that your hosts be fully included: give each of them a songbook so they can sing along. They love it!
Warning: participants in Sol-La-S’Day unknowingly commit to a deeply enriching human experience.
